What happens after you leave? Do you turn against all religion or do you find another?
It's mixed.
i'm not a witness, but i have to ask..... what happens after you leave?
do you turn against all religion or do you find another?
people say they're happy when they leave...that they feel free, but i'd hate to think that people give up on everything religious.. if you do stay religious, how many doctrines of the jws do you retain?

It's mixed.
in my view, there needs to be a very clear decoupling of the destruction wrought on jerusalem/judah from the 70 years of servitude/babylonian domination.. .
the destruction was the outcome of the people failing over many centuries to obey god, and it was a conditional prophecy, the outcome of which depended on the people's response.. .
however, the servitude to babylon, experienced by several countries, was an unconditional prophecy.
I agree, the 70 years is how long Babylon had world power. And Babylon fell in 539 so add 70 to 539 =609 as the start of Babylon's Supremacy.
Do you know what event triggered 609?
i have been out since 1998 and have rarely seen another jw since.
i didn't leave because i found anything wrong, i just didn't want to live the life anymore.
i still defended the witnesses at times.
You probably don't have the time but this will shed a light on some of it. Info you can use to free your kids.
how much was the ransom?
gods justice did not require an exact equivalent man-for-man sacrifice between the first adam and jesus, the second adam.
gods gift required more.
Got an hour?

Not really. Maybe you could sum it up in a paragraph or two with some citations? If it is so obvious it shouldn't take that long since we're dealing with only a handfull of verses.

The story of Adam and Eve was a metaphor, not based on reality.
Maybe, maybe not. How do you know?

Relax. It was tongue in cheek for crying out loud. Dude.
Um, it's dudette to you, mister.
So how about Jer 31:31-34
So, what about it? You are aware your interpretation will not be mine?
Sorry.
Just, what does it mean to them, er, you. It says it will not be like the old covenant. I'll wait while you go look it up.

Dude, what is wrong with you? Are you being purposefully dense? Since when is speaking Hebrew speaking in tongues?

i've read both of ray franz's books (excellent) and both of carl o. jonsson's (also excellent) after dismantling the wt doctrine of 607 and last days, carl o. jonsson comments on the establishment of christ's kingdom in the year 33. i assume (i think i'm right) that he is supporting a postmillenialist or amillenialist view, as apposed to premillenialism.
can anyone point me to a good source of information and discussion on these various views?
do any of you favor one over another?
I really think that depends on your understanding of "The Kingdom".

They might still be, but it's not exclusive. Now THAT'S presumptious
I never said is was exclusive. I said the covenant stands. And it does. Sheesh.

Say what you want about the Jews but remember: the covenant between our God and my people is forever.
No it's not, it was conditional. You are my people IF....
They didn't do the IF part. Hey, don't get me wrong, I like Jews. No, I love them as a whole, out of pity no doubt ... and because they were God's people. They might still be, but it's not exclusive. Now THAT'S presumptious.
And if Paul is correct they will eventually be brought in to the New Covenant.
